See Click Fix is an utterly ineffective tool the way it is being used the City of Salem.

People report issues, and if the category is near but not exactly correct it gets assigned to the wrong department without anyone even looking at it. The department users don't seem to know how to reassign items, and items are frequently closed without being fixed, using the same canned response over and over again.

I reported lights out at WHES in early November. For months, the electrical department said that it shouldn't be assigned to them, and did nothing to fix it or reassign it. They also NEVER TOLD ANYONE ABOUT IT.

If someone reports that a sidewalk is blocked, closing the issue and using a canned plowing response is just disrespectful. Nobody asked for plowing. They asked for access to a pedestrian light, and a sidewalk.

When someone reports that their tree wasn't picked up, and your response is that it was picked up today, and it's still sitting there tomorrow, that's disrespectful to the citizen's intelligence, not to mention collecting false data.

If it's worth doing it's worth doing right. If it's not, please stop the sham. Sometimes, it's better to provide no tool, and let the public think you don't care, than to give them a tool, and prove you don't care by your usage, or lack thereof.

It's called See Click Fix. At a minimum, stop closing items that haven't been fixed. And stop marking them acknowledged, too. Just post a big middle finger image, instead.

  • 37-99 Bow Street Salem, Massachusetts - City of Salem

In an annual tradition, my neighborhood put our trees out on our trash day, as instructed. In an annual tradition, nobody picked them up.

It's almost as if this isn't scheduled well in advance, except, you know, it is.

The pedestrian signal at Riley Plaza nearest the flagpoles has been broken for some time. The coffee cup isn't really a solution.
