Thank you for submitting your tree concern to the Howard County Department of Public Works. Our staff will investigate this issue and respond.

Location inspected, a 50% dead zelkova tree was located on Kind Rain in the court. It has been marked for removal and is on a separate ticket #. As far as the locust trees on Tamar, due to their leaves dropping off early and I can’t visually see enough bark peeling to determine a minimum of 40% deadwood. I will have to recheck these trees in the spring of 2021 after they leaf out. Will update my findings in the comment section.

Because the tree is dead on the island in the culdesac, will it be replaced??
We as a community have just planted spring bulbs and ornamental grass as well. When the techs remove the tree can they also be careful of our plantings??

This helps promote growth of the new tree. The County is governed by the State of Maryland Forestry Division and as such, we have to go by the State approved trees to plant.
