Parking and Animal Services Archived740 Boyd St New Westminster, BC V3M 5G7, Canada - New Westminstervehicles parking in the bike lane. the no parking signs here do not make sense as the pole further east show no parking in both directions in this area and the one to the west shows parking allowed to the east of it. A no parking east (left) and parking allowed to west (right) sign should be added on the light pole in between as the parking lane narrows too much for vehicles to not park on the bike lane.

Street/Sidewalk Issues Archived76 Braid St New Westminster, BC V3L 3P3, Canada - CoquitlamThe baffle gates on the new Fraser Brunette greenway crossing of the railway are too close to each other making it difficult to navigate through them on a regular bike and impossible to navigate through with a bike and trailer, cargo bike or tandem bike. I also found it difficult to look for trains as I was too focused on getting through the gates. While it is a good idea to have these gates they should be spread further appart, probably 2x the distance that they are currently appart now. This new path is fairly narrow so that makes it even harder to get through on a bike as the turn radius required is quite small compared to a wider trail. I would recommend widening the space between gates to 2.5m at minimum.

Parking and Animal Services Archived711 7th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M 5S8, CAN - New WestminsterFlexible bollards should be added to the buffer lane because vehicles are often parking in the bike lane or in the buffer. The city can easily prevent vehicles from parking too far from the right by adding some flexible bollards in the buffer. Why doesn't it do this?? On page 87 of the NATCO design guide it recommends the following: "While not a barrier type on its own, parked cars can provide an additional
level of protection and comfort for bicyclists. A minimum buffer width of
3 feet is required to allow for the opening of doors and other maneuvers. Additional vertical elements such as periodic delineator posts should be paired with this design." https://nacto.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/2-4_FHWA-Separated-Bike-Lane-Guide-ch-5_2014.pdf -
